With almost 20 years of experience as a healthcare professional, Vonyee attended Minneapolis Community & Technical College in 2008, where she received her Enhanced Community Health Worker Certificate. Vonyee continued working in various direct support and administrative healthcare roles, which included many duties similar to those performed by CHWs. In 2015, Vonyee began her “official” work as a CHW, at MVNA (now part of Hennepin Care). There she was an integral part of developing the CHW role and workflow within the Healthy Communities department. While at MVNA, Vonyee was responsible for the onboarding & training of newly hired Healthy Communities CHWs. In addition, she was featured in a video produced by Community Blueprint, showcasing the work of CHWs in our communities. In 2018, Vonyee moved into her current CHW role at Lutheran Social Service (LSS). Similar to her work at MVNA, Vonyee is contributing her expertise and experience in the ongoing development of the CHW role within the Community Companion Service.
