LBAMS SAOIC STUDENT SUPPORT

“ I would like to have the tools to educate others about Type 1 Diabetes and to help children living with the disease understand their diagnosis better. Due to my own experiences.”

SAOIC students receive encouragement right away from experienced CHWs who’s been through similar situations and can provide invaluable advice and guidance.

ALUMNI MENTORING BENEFITS

  • Utilizing a strong alumni network as a mentor base also gives current students a chance to ask questions of someone who has been in their shoes and can relate to them more easily.

  • Alumni’s giving back is a great way to encourage them to remain connected with SAOIC institution.

  • Alumni-to-alumni mentoring give students an opportunity to connect previous classes with current ones. These mentoring connections allow recent graduates to receive career advice from those with more experience working as a CHW professional.

  • Mentoring strengthens an alumni support network through engagement and builds a community that encourages giving back to the school that helped make them successful.

The best way a mentor can prepare another leader is to expose him or her to other great people.

“As a mentee, I would have a mentor who could help me navigate questions I have such as advice on clients, different CHW scenarios, and situations that arise around the workplace.”
